Rainwater Harvesting

Enviroconcepts is focused on water conservation through rainwater harvesting. Rainwater harvesting is the process of collecting rainwater from impervious surfaces and directing it to a single location where it can be stored for later use. Rainwater harvesting increases self-sufficiency regardless of the setting. We offer a collection of systems for flexible installation into existing structures.

Water collected from a properly designed and installed rainwater pre-filtration and storage system requires no further treatment for uses such as irrigation. When treated with high-intensity ultraviolet sterilizers, rainwater can be used to drink.

Enviroconcepts offers a range of products to help you with your rainwater harvesting activities. Water treatment and sterilization are necessary to make rainwater ready for use. Treating rainwater before use and after storage is critical for the health of the user. The intended use of the water depends on the level of treatment it is to be taken through. Enviroconcepts utilizes multi-barrier approaches to treatment so as to maximize effectiveness.

Filtration

Various levels of filtration are utilized to remove suspended and dissolved solids, microorganisms, precipitated metals, and organic matter. Enviroconcepts filtration range includes particle filtration (i.e. microfiltration cartridges, multimedia deep bed filtration), ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis. Filter media, cartridges, and modules should be changed regularly to ensure efficient performance.

Disinfection

Disinfection destroys microbiological organisms that have the potential to cause illness. Smaller microorganisms that pass-through filters can be targeted through disinfection. Though rainwater appears clean to the naked eye, it is pathogen rich and can cause sickness and infection when it comes into contact with open wounds or even ingested.

Enviroconcepts offers several disinfection options for rainwater harvesting. These methods are:

Chlorination

This is an excellent water treatment solution for rainwater that will be stored for later use or for treated water that will be distributed in a pipe network.

Ultraviolet (UV) Radiation

UV radiation eliminates close to 100% of the microorganisms present in the rainwater. Ideal for treated water that will be immediately used.

Adsorption

Unlike chlorination and UV, adsorption filters do not eliminate or kill the microorganism instead the microorganisms and other contaminants bind and accumulate at the surface of the activated carbon media. Ideal alternative to chlorination if the presence of residual chlorine in the final treated water is prohibited.

Rainwater harvesting is an easy way for businesses to reduce operating costs. Enviroconcepts provides a range of packaged rainwater harvesting systems that are portable, easy to use, and cost-effective.
